5 happy years ago Brent and Lauren were invited to go on a kayaking trip with a group of friends. Lauren had just moved back to Michigan from Arizona and Brent was keeping the local Grand Rapids bars in business.

Although they graduated high school together, they had different social circles and did not know much about one another. That all changed that day on the river.

Lauren, the wonderfully clumsy person she is, flipped her kayak, lost her phone and sufficiently soaked the rest of her belongings. And who was there to rescue this damsel in distress? I think you can probably guess! There sat Brent in his kayak waiting to help her struggle back into hers. To his surprise, she lifted herself right back in without much of his help, and when they locked eyes, that was it.

Since that day the two have been nearly inseparable. Traveling, going to music festivals and concerts, intertwining their family and friends, and building a wonderful life together. They have 2 fat cats, Clyde Frog and Steve French. And last year they adopted the sweetest Border Collie named Nova. The 5 of them live in a perfectly chaotic downtown Grand Rapids home and love every minute of it.

As Brent and Lauren progress through their lives, they admirably remain steadfast and true to one another. Their love has created lasting friendships, the best of memories, and even some other happy couples!
